O’Brien Fine Foods

O’Brien Fine Foods

Overview

O’Brien Fine Foods (OBFF) is a family run business established in 2000 with manufacturing sites in both Ireland and the UK. Employing over 600 people, they are the leading cooked meats producer on the Island of Ireland, with a growing international presence. They supply both branded and private label ranges, from three manufacturing sites with full BRC accreditation.

Innovation and new product development are at the heart of what they do. They are experienced, innovative, and adept at delivering mouth-watering food solutions to the meat industry.

What were the main challenges the customer was facing?

On our initial approach to O’Brien Fine Foods, they expressed a need to have their print fleet updated and a requirement for a secure “follow me” printing solution across their sites which they wanted integrated with their site access cards. They also needed the software to automatically sync with their Azure AD tenant and update as new users were onboarded with the company. They also needed reliable toner replenishment, as the printers required them. Some areas did not have network points for the printers and would require wireless connectivity.

How did we engage with the customer?

We engaged with their I.T. teams to establish all the key requirements that O’Brien Fine Foods had. With all our initial surveys completed and a detailed review of their printing, we set about planning and designing a solution that would be capable of providing the correct results for O’Brien Fine Foods.

“O'Brien Fine Foods recently completed the successful deployment of PaperCut cloud and new printer fleet from MacroEV across our IOI sites. This upgrade significantly enhances our printing efficiency, sustainability, and security. With PaperCut cloud, we now have seamless print management, greatly reduced waste, and improved document security. Additionally, the solution offers excellent scalability to meet our growing needs. Thank you, MacroEV, for your exceptional service and support throughout this transition!”

How did we solve their challenges?

When the customers challenges were established, we set about designing a solution that would work best for them to address these challenges.

  • This involved rolling out a single brand of printers across their sites using only one version of print driver.
  • We installed printers with Wi-Fi capabilities into the area’s that had no network ports.
  • We also installed a Follow-Me-Print solution that would be installed on a cloud-based Azure server.
  • Two groups were set-up within their Azure AD. One group for Colour and one group for Mono. Our software sync’d these groups and rules were then applied against them.
  • A print deployment interface was pushed out to each user through Intune so that users could get the relevant print queues installed on their PC’s
  • Using a web-based portal O’Brien Fine Foods were able to manage users and the devices.
  • Card readers were programmed to read O’Brien Fine Foods access cards and were then installed into the printers.
  • Each user was then given the ability to register their cards at the printer by simply entering their account details at the printer’s screens.
  • Scan to Email was set-up and was pre-set to go directly to the user to give traceability on all scans being sent.
  • The software was set-up to sync with Azure AD every morning just after 12am to check for new users.
